Quickly identifying where an insulation fault has occurred is essential to reduce intervention time, simplify maintenance activities and preserve system availability.
HFL-12 is Contrel's new digital Insulation Fault Locator, designed to locate insulation faults in low-voltage IT systems.
The device operates in combination with an insulation monitoring device, such as HRI-R40N or HRI-R40, using the measuring signal generated by the insulation monitor and toroidal sensors installed on the individual circuits.
When the insulation resistance of one or more circuits falls below the configured threshold, HFL-12 identifies the affected channel and generates an alarm indication, allowing the fault to be quickly located without unnecessarily interrupting the entire installation.
HFL-12 provides:
- insulation fault location for up to 12 circuits;
- fast fault location in approximately 5 seconds;
- automatic detection and configuration of compatible toroids during commissioning;
- configurable insulation threshold for each individual channel;
- insulation fault percentage display;
- insulation fault event log;
- 2 output relays for fault indication;
- Modbus RS-485 communication.
The display provides an immediate overview of the monitored circuits, allowing operators to quickly identify their current condition.
Through the toroidal sensors installed on each individual circuit, HFL-12 also provides local information on insulation conditions, supporting not only fault detection but also preventive maintenance strategies.
The combination of a Contrel insulation monitoring device and HFL-12 therefore makes it possible to move from simply detecting an insulation fault to accurately locating the affected circuit, significantly improving diagnostic and maintenance activities.
With HFL-12, Contrel completes its IT system monitoring solution with a device designed to provide faster intervention, improved system availability and more detailed diagnostics.
